Reiki Meetup

I believe an active reiki community is essential to both personal growth with reiki and the growth of reiki awareness in the world. So with that in mind, I started a weekly meetup group whose goal is to encourage reiki practitioners to share their experiences with one another. Tomorrow’s “Reiki Happy Hour” at a coffee shop in my neighborhood will be our first gathering. Wish us luck and reiki!

Reiki for a Severe Cold

Having spent 12 hours in a sealed car with two sick passengers this past weekend, I inevitably caught the bug. Thursday was by far the worst of it with runny nose, sneezing, a congested chest, and a sore throat. As soon as I returned home from work and had dinner, I placed both my hands over each side of my neck. The warmth of the reiki energy flowed through and soon, my throat felt warm and protected and the fierce pain on swallowing was gone.

With the next day being an important one, I lay down and dozed off early. At 5 am. I awoke and felt a great opportunity for reiki. I began by placing my palms over my lungs and the reiki flowed readily to them. I placed my palms over my throat and the energy moved effortlessly there as well. Then, I placed one hand over my abdomen and the other over my forehead and the energy continued to flow strong. The self-treatment was extraordinary and I began to wonder whether 5 am in the morning wasn’t the best time of day for reiki!

Regardless, the treatment was enough for me to beat the bug and get to work that day. I love that reiki lets you be proactive in taking care of your body and well-being.

What Reiki Feels like on a Headache

The following story is a perfect example of the usefulness of reiki in daily life.

10 o’ clock last Friday night, I was seated in a restaurant in Vegas waiting for my order. I’d hardly gotten any rest during the all-night drive down from San Francisco or during the non-stop day that followed. Since 8 in the morning, I had spent most my time walking, first in painful heels and then in sneakers up and down the strip.  I hadn’t eaten since lunch, so I was in a fairly bad state by the time I reached the restaurant.

As I sat waiting for my order, I felt miserable, especially around my sinuses and eyes. They felt as if they were screaming and I just felt such an incredible amount of discomfort, one that bordered on feverishness.

Finally having the chance to give myself reiki, I placed my hands over both my eyes in the same way one would if playing “peek-a-boo” and thought of reiki energy entering my body through the top of my head.

The reiki energy slowly began flowing and I felt a warmth emitting from my palms. That warmth grew stronger and spread to my eyes and head. The pain in that area was interacting with the soft warmth, which to me was not just a physical feeling, but also felt like a state of being. The pain around my eyes lifted away. Then, to my surprise, instead of subsiding, the soft warmth grew even stronger and I realized it was enveloping my entire body, lifting away a subtle ache unbeknownst to me that had been there all along. As the reiki energy grew stronger, I began to feel near weightless, near body-less. I could have been a ball of soft, warm energy just hovering next to that table. I was completely free of pain.

Eventually, I brought myself out of my posture because to any outside observer I would have looked extremely distraught with my hands over my eyes in that way and I didn’t want to attract unnecessary attention. I felt amazing. The pain was all gone. It had gone so quickly and so absolutely that even my mind was having a hard time registering the new fact.  I felt…normal.

Thank you reiki.
